The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Housekeeping Aid Leader. The Housekeeping Aid Leader will function in the Environmental Management Service.
This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.201) for this occupation.
Duties
Follows instructions from Housekeeping Supervisors to lead housekeeping aids assigned to perform duties in compliance with established Environmental Management Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Leads housekeeping aids in performing various detail tasks, also establishes the pace for the group.
Incumbent must be familiar with established sanitation techniques for maintaining an aseptically clean and aesthetically pleasant environment for patient care activities, as well as for the safety and protection of patients, staff, and visitors.
Is aware of standards, policies or methods in obtaining work-related information from the supervisor or written guidance
Maintains equipment and makes minor repairs when necessary.
Is responsible for equipment inventory, care/usage and upkeep of all housekeeping equipment.
Advises the supervisor on the progress of planned goals and reports reasons for delays with recommended solutions.
Documents any issues that can be of help to the supervisor or others.
Observes and develops the skills necessary to operate power equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, battery powered floor machines, pressure washers, etc.
Work Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM (Midnight), Monday- Friday or 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday-Friday

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Incumbent must be able to continuously stand, bend, stoop, and reach while performing regular duties. Move/control heavy equipment. Carry and set up ladders/scaffolding. Frequently lift/move objects weighing over 50 pounds. Occasionally pushes loads weighing up to 800 pounds.
