About the Position: The United States Army Recruiting Command recruits Soldiers, both officers and enlisted, to meet the needs of an expeditionary Army, begins the transformation from civilian to Soldier, acts as the Army's liaison with the American people, and does all with integrity and a professionalism that clearly demonstrates the warrior ethos and Army values. Duties
Prepare and process recommendations for awards and decorations.
Prepare, update, coordinate, and respond to inquiries regarding requests for evaluations, promotions, reductions, transfers, and discharges.
Arrange promotion declinations, reconsiderations, reductions, and removal boards for soldiers on local promotion standing lists.
Process a variety of military personnel orders, e.g., temporary duty and travel, training, reassignment, retention, military and special pay programs, personnel accounting, strength management, transition processing, and unit administration.
Process operational moves and Soldier reliefs.
Review all personnel actions for accuracy and timely submission and track until complete.
Manage the Army Drug and Alcohol Presentation and Control Program and Database for the Battalion.
Prepare and maintain functional files per Army Record Information Management System (ARIMS).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying military human resource (HR) rules, procedures, and operations to screen and/or check information in service records; utilizing military HR systems to retrieve or store information; and preparing correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Advancement to positions up to GS-5. Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non temporary competitive appointment.
