EDRP is Authorized This position is an independently licensed master level clinical social worker and is assigned to the Mental Health Service at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center. Providing independent mental health services to veterans and families, consultations to other services and to the community, and educations of patients, families, and hospital staff on mental disorders and related treatments. Location: Within commuting distance of any Oscar G. Johnson CBOC or the VAMC.

We embrace our differences as individuals and unite as a team toward a common goal: to serve our nation's Veterans The Veterans Justice Outreach (VJO) Social Worker Program Coordinator may be the sole practitioner is this specialty area and will also provide direct patient care services in this specialty program area. They will manages the daily operation of the program, develops policies and procedures for program operation, and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. Duties include but are not limited to: Manages and controls the use of data related to this program regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation. Collects analyzes and reports program data to local management, VISN Veteran Justice Outreach Program (VJO) Coordinator and the National VJO Program, Care Management and Social Work Service, Office of Patient Care Services. Evaluates program progress and outcomes and utilizes data to continuously modify and improve the program and processes. Develops and implements information systems to track service activities including visits, referrals, demographics, and Veteran satisfaction Responsible for developing and establishing linkages and collaborates on VJO Program efforts with community court systems and agencies. Functions as a liaison with local justice system partners and a member of court treatment teams using interventions appropriate for the justice-involved Veteran population including referral and linkage of Veterans to appropriate VA and non-VA services. Independently performs case finding functions and outreach, identifying and screening patients for psychosocial needs. Develops treatment plans in collaboration with the veteran/family and with the interdisciplinary treatment team. Participate in a rotation of on-call services, including modification of tour of duty to accommodate patient care needs on weekends Location: Within commuting distance of any Oscar G. Johnson CBOC or the VAMC. Facilities include our Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain and 8 community-based outpatient clinics in Gladstone, Hancock, Ironwood, Manistique, Marquette, Menominee, and Sault Saint Marie, Michigan, and Rhinelander, Wisconsin Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00AM to 4:30PM Telework: As determined by the agency policy. Remote 100% Within The Area Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Relocation/Recruitment Incentives- Recruitment incentive is authorized for highly qualified applicants. Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: The basic requirements for employment as a VHA social worker are prescribed by statute in 38 U.S.C. ? 7402(b)(9), as amended by section 205 of Public Law 106-419, enacted November 1, 2000. To qualify for appointment as a social worker in VHA, all applicants must meet the following: Citizenship. Be a citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g this part). Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work. Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Current state requirements may be found by going to http://vaww.va.gov/OHRM/T38Hybrid/. For the GS-11 grade level and above, the candidate must be licensed or certified . Social Worker (Program Coordinator), GS-12 Experience and Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. 2. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. 3. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: (a) Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. (b) Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. (c) Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. (d) Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). (e) Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice. References: VA HANDBOOK 5005/120 PART II APPENDIX G39 Physical Requirements: Work is mostly sedentary and primarily performed in an office setting. Typical office work involves active listening, reading, observing, and evaluating verbal and nonverbal behavior, writing reports and clinical notes. The position requires the use of office equipment such as computers, keyboards, telephones, fax machines, and photocopy machines. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. If required as a condition of employment, the incumbent must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, employee physicals, etc.
