You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC in the PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will plan work in response to requests for electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs, furniture moves, carpet, painting, and other architectural modifications. You will Interpret building specifications using plans, blueprints, and sketches to complete facilities maintenance (e.g., electrical, plumbing, pipefitting). You will determine the need for replenishment of materials to verify adequate resources are available to perform facilities maintenance and repair work. You will use close tolerance measuring devices and tools (e.g., voltmeters, multimeters, pressure gauges, micrometers, calipers,) to repair and test equipment.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • The incumbent serving in this position may at any time be assigned to a similar position at any site with the NAVFAC MID-Atlantic area.
  • The incumbent will be required to carry, use, and answer a government provided cellular telephone or other electronic communication device while on duty.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is:1) Install, modify or repair various supply, disposal, and utility systems and equipment; 2) Interpret and apply complex instructions, sketches, building plans, blueprints, codes and specifications; 3) Utilize plumbing tools and equipment, such as plumb bobs, levels, dividers, augers, and hydrostatic pumps; 4) Employ precision carpentry tools and woodworking equipment to produce finished work with precise fits, tight joints, accurate dimensions and acceptable appearance.
