The Locksmith position is responsible for installation, maintenance, and repairs of a wide variety of common and unique locking devices and systems that provide physical security to buildings, areas, and equipment. This position is located at the Audie L. Murphy VAMC in San Antonio, Texas within Engineering Service.

Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to: -Sets up and maintains keying combinations for use on a four -tier locking systems for the various services of the hospital, starting with the grand master, service master, section master and individual lock combination, utilizing a six-pin lock core. -Responsible for installing the low-voltage power, including transformer installation and wiring. -Installation, maintenance, adjustment, and repair of door operating and securing devices. -Repair of door and door hardware. -Installs, pins, maintains and repairs a wide variety of locking devices, to include knob and lever with interchangeable or non-interchangeable cores, mortised locksets, mortise, and rim cylinders, both electrified and non-electrified and single and double deadlocks. -Works closely with the Police Service and Engineering Biomedical/Electronic shop to install, maintain, and repair electric and electronic locking devices that interconnect with various alarm and notification systems. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
