You will serve as an EXPLOSIVES SAFETY SPECIALIST in the SAFETY OFFICE of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BLAZ.

Duties

You will conduct explosives safety management evaluation/inspections in a broad geographic area to determine compliance with published standards. You will propose interim corrective action and recommend final corrective measures to commanders and exercising authority to shut down an operation if an immediately dangerous situation is determined to exist. You will periodically lead team inspections of complex explosive operations which require extensive pre-planning efforts, selection of team members with specialized expertise and coordination of simultaneous inspections. You will negotiate and coordinate issues pertaining to explosives safety for the full range of installation functions. You will initiate and carry out explosives safety education activities. You will promote safety awareness through explosives safety councils, provide training and issue publications. You will be involved in the handling, storing, production renovation and overland transportation of ammunition and explosives. You will perform safety inspections and surveys of all aspects of facilities, equipment and operations.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Designing, managing and implementing explosives safety programs and providing explosive safety support in the areas of explosive site planning, explosive safety program management and explosive safety training to control or eliminate hazards and/or the physical safety and occupational health of the general public. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

h.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
