This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Western Region Office, Southern Paiute Agency (St. George, UT) and Truxton Canon Agency (Valentine, AZ) and reports to the Superintendent. There is only one (1) position available for this vacancy announcement. The selected candidate may be stationed in either Valentine, AZ or St. George, UT. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this position, you must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the GS-0301 series set forth in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards by the closing date of the announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13 level: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through federal service. Examples of specialized experience include responsibility for carrying out management functions in accordance with laws and regulations for a variety of land resource program activities that includes agriculture, realty and forestry. Additional examples of specialized experience includes program oversight responsibilities or serving as a technical expert in range management; natural resources; land use development; land assessment of all the resources; or land resource conservation strategy/planning for trust land. There is no education substitution for the GS-13 grade level. This is a key management position. Simply meeting time-in-grade in occupations where directing and managing Indian trust responsibilities and program was not performed, will not be qualifying. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-12 grade level for consideration at the GS-13 grade level.) Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472). Additional selections may be made from this announcement if identical vacancies occur in the same location within 90 days from the closing date. Recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.
