This position diagnoses and performs repairs and maintenance to mechanical and electrical equipment assigned to Environmental Management Section/Service (EMS). The incumbent orders supplies, establishes reorder levels, and monitors usage. The incumbent maintains equipment catalog listing and evaluates new equipment for adaptability to service requirements.
Duties
Major duties include but not limited to:
Repair, maintenance and major overhaul of the equipment used in the Environmental Management Service, such as battery powered floor scrubbers, various vacuums, wall washers, pressure washers, floor polishers, carpet cleaner extractors and shampooers, etc.
Receiving, storing, issuing, signing in and checking out various equipment, supplies and materiel Is used in the Environmental Management Service, to include housekeeping supplies used in Nutrition and Food Service.
Inventories stock on hand, prepares ordering data and receives items when delivered. He/she maintains various records for control purposes, usage analysis, and statistics used in recurring reports of supply costs by bed designation and data used in budget preparation.
Issues and receives equipment checked out for specific assignments. He/she maintains a parts inventory for equipment repair and maintenance.
Performs visual and operational checks, operator maintenance, minor and major repair on Environmental Management Service equipment, providing services such as adjustments of drive belts, brush assemblies, wiping blades, etc., greasing and lubrication of powered equipment, replacement of filters, flow control valves, and replacing motor brushes.
Reconciles the Consolidated Memorandum Receipts for the Environmental Management Service, conducting the inventory and noting overages/shortages and other equipment repair duties that may come up.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The positions requires walking, stooping, bending, pushing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs). May be required to use a six-foot ladder, hydraulic extension platform or scaffolding.
