Duties

Plans and directs ATC operations. Establishes job requirements and long-range work plans to include budgets. Communicates directly with the air traffic control command on matters concerning air traffic control administration. Ensures facilities securities and develops contingency plans to provide for emergency situations. Directs administrative and technical work performed by air traffic control specialists, and electronic technicians at Bradshaw AAF and Wheeler AAF.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test prior to appointment and randomly thereafter.
  • This position has been designated as a Key Position.
  • Must be able to perform up to 5% of temporary duty (TDY) travel.
  • May be recall to duty as needed.
  • Must meet and maintain personal physical fitness/medical qualification standards in accordance with AR 40-501 and AR 40-8 pertaining air traffic control (FAA medical certification
  • must possess or obtain, within uniformly applicable time limits (198 days in accordance with AR 95-2), the facility ratings required for full performance at the facility where the position is located.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also be a graduate of a DoD component or FAA approved formal Air Traffic Controller school and possess Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) and/or Control Tower Operator (CTO) certification.
