About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support.
Duties
Set up machine tools selecting the proper material, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, and correct speeds and feeds for the material being machined.
Perform machining operations which may require the use of various standard machine tool attachments.
Operate one or more conventional, computer aided, or computer numerical control (CNC) machine tool.
Utilize/operate a personal computer and navigate and interpret Tech Data and Blueprints.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DAForm 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under theDrug Abuse Testing Program.
- Employee must pass a pre-appointment physical examination and meet established requirements.
- This position requires a personnel security background check (Tier 1 Non-Sensitive, Low Risk).

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Machine Tool Operator without more than normal supervision. Perform some tasks associated with a Machine Tool Operator. Use various standard machine attachments such as rotary tables, magnetic chucks, taper attachments, and universal milling attachments; and select proper cutting tools according to the type of metal being machined and correct machine feeds and speeds necessary to perform the required operation. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Requires standing, stooping, bending, reaching, and frequent handling of objects weighing up to 35pounds. Hoists and other workers are available to assist with heavier items. May be required to climb and work on aircraft, in test cells, and other areas outside the shop.
Working Conditions: Works in a well-lighted, heated , ventilated shop with concrete floors. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil form machines, dirt, heat, noises and fumes. Subject to the hazards of burns from hot chips, dust in lungs, cuts, bruises, injuries to hands from use of machine and hand tools, skin irritations from contact with coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds, and to strains from infrequent moving, lifting, and handling of heavy items. Wears safety glasses, safety shoes and other safety apparel and equipment as required. Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the work.
