Duties

Provides troubleshooting and assistance to personnel in analyzing and resolving operational program problems through the application of automated supply systems. Plans, coordinates, monitors, and administers the operation, security, and maintenance of computer systems. Acts as the primary source of expertise on matters regarding automated systems. Plans the introduction of new hardware and computer programs. Monitors computer installation and use; analyzes effectiveness; and makes recommendation for corrections and improvements. Works with Compliance and Analysis to assess the overall impact of supply computer system problems. Develops local workarounds to maintain supply support to the unit's squadron's mission. Applies downward and lateral directed technology enhancing computer support and managing analytical data. Interfaces with ANG personnel and on-base computer managers for support on hardware and software to report and correct discrepancies. Functions as the liaison with Electronics Systems Support Center at Gunter AFB and with the Global Logistics Support Center (GLSC) to correct problems in operating and maintaining systems and personal computer programs. Advises management regarding computer related questions. Serves as the computer facility manager responsible for the overall operation of computer support within the LRS. Acts as Supply Asset Tracking System (SATS) administrator. Loads and maintains database in hand held terminals and performs general administrative functions. Coordinates with COS management and others when computer support is lost. Works with the GLSC to restore support as soon as possible. Evaluates problems and advises management of required actions. Initiates manual accounting/degraded operations. Coordinates the recovery of all transaction activity after computer support has been restored. Maintains and analyzes historical data on computer downtime and manual accounting/degraded operations transactions to pinpoint or prevent negative trends. Serves as the primary Client Support Administrator (CSA) for LRS. Monitors the use of all computer systems. Assures conformity with USAF, MAJCOM, Defense Information Security Agency, and ANG regulations/instructions on the use, maintenance, and security of computer systems. Assists in the development of checklists and operating instructions. Maintains documentation on all hardware and software. Serves as the primary terminal security manager for the Logistics Readiness Squadron. Responsible for assignment of controlled transaction identifier codes and terminal assigned user-id for all supply systems. Resets and re-enables user-id for assigned personnel. Responsible for applying personal computer technology to the LRS functions. Installs personal computer hardware and software; monitors all computer projects; conducts training on the operation of computer equipment to all assigned personnel. Reports security breaches to appropriate agencies. Receives, evaluates, and processes requests for supply Automated Data Processing (ADP) management products including standardized listings. When necessary, develops specialized products to meet unique analytical needs using Discoverer. Reviews and coordinates the forecast of ADP products. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • MILITARY GRADE REQUIREMENT: Due to the nature of this position, the minimum military grade is Airman Basic (AB/E1) and the maximum military grade is Technical Sergeant (TSgt/E6).

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with a general knowledge of one or more aspects of the supply field. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience which is directly related to the position to be filled and which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. GS-09- Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training dealing with cost estimates, budgets or funding management. Experience conducting extensive searches for required information; reconstruct records for complex supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates and hours worked per week for each occurrence of both civilian and military employment (Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only will result in disqualification. Your record of experience and/or training must show possession of the following knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position: -- Practical knowledge of a wide range of supply management programs, functions, concepts, and work processes; and a broad understanding of interrelated activities involving the supply process; to apply judgment, analysis, provide customer services, and resolve problems. -- Broad knowledge of operations and automated system is required to assist managers and specialist in managing programs -- Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications to assist supply specialists in enhancing supply support to base customers, resolve operational problems, and sustain support when mainframe computer sources are not available. -- Knowledge of computer technology/methodology. Serves as the primary computer expert and point of contact for interfaced systems. Uses such knowledge to program problems and develop alternative processing methods to maintain essential support while programs are being corrected. -- Knowledge of computer security risks and protective measures to protect the integrity of automated databases. -- Knowledge of analytical methods and problem solving techniques.
