About the Position: The San Antonio MEPS is one of a network of 65 MEPS located nationwide and in Puerto Rico. The mission of USMEPCOM and the San Antonio MEPS is to process individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services, based on DoD-approved peacetime and mobilization standards.

Duties

Coach, facilitate, solve work problems. Provide input supervisor on performance, progress, and training needs of employees. Verify applicants identify using previously captured biometrics. Screen applicant records for conducting physical examinations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must use restrictive and protective clothing such as surgical gloves, employee cannot wear exposing footwear.
  • Occasional shift work (before 0600 or after 1800 hours) may be required.
  • Occasionally may be required to work Saturdays.
  • Required to submit to blood tests on a yearly basis.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the distribution of workload among employees to assure timely accomplishment of assigned work; performing medical testing such as Ear Lavage, EKG, or Urine specimen to glean patient results; operating medical equipment such as stereoscopic vision tester, bio-acoustic simulators, microscopes, otoscopes, phlebotomy blood pressure, or laboratory centrifuges; preforming phlebotomy procedures on patients to obtain blood samples; communicating with patients to give proper instructions for medical procedures being performed; organizing label information to assure proper test samples are documents properly. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Clinical AnalysisClinical Analysis and JudgementEnvironmental Compliance and Preventive ActionLeadership Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
