This position is located within the Agricultural Research Service, Midwest Area, in Madison, WI.
In this position you will serve as the initial point-of-contact for all questions, information, and problem resolution in the areas of budget and accounting, agreements, travel, human resources, files management, correspondence preparation and control, time and attendance, office automation systems, and purchasing/procurement.
Duties
Provides training and advisory services to the RL and professional staff in all program administrative procedures ensuring compliance with regulations.
Maintains tracking logs, action items, manages administrative suspense items and transaction records.
Screens all calls and visitors, answering most questions on established policy or routine matters.
Coordinates the submission of RPES case write-ups for mandatory cyclic reviews.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Time in grade: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade.
GS-6
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience providing administrative and clerical support to a team; reviewing correspondence for accuracy; and maintaining detailed records or files for an office environment.
GS-7
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience editing material for correct structure, clarity, and arrangements using office automation software; tracking and recording financial or budget information; and serving as the primary administrative business process point of contact for an office.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
