Duties
You will perform account maintenance and accounting support work requiring a basic understanding of accounting systems, policies, and procedures to examine.
You will verify and maintain and reconcile accounts and accounting data, and prepare and analyze reports.
You will examine documents for accuracy, adequacy of documentation, and compliance with regulations for goods and services provided to or by the government.
You will work accurately with figures.
You will have knowledge of procedures and regulations that are required to examine invoices, voucher, and related documents.
You will make and verify arithmetical computations.
You will prepare all documentation for proper invoice certification, Prompt Payment Certification (PPC), to include information such as contract/purchase order, receipt acknowledgement/acceptance report, and a proper invoice.
You will ensure that all obligations are valid prior to payment
You will liaison between several DFAS pay offices, vendors and command members
You will provide assistance in Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) reviews as it relates to invoice processes
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This is a Financial Management Level 1 certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-08
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Conducting payment and invoicing processing and validation of obligation prior to invoice payment; Conducting contract reviews of terms and conditions as it relates to invoice payments; Providing guidance and recommendations to staff regarding validation of receipt of goods and services related to vendor payments, document preparation, and other funding issues plans and requirements, and utilizing enterprise systems (e.g. General Fund Business Enterprise System or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems).
GS-07
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing, developing, and evaluating contract terms and conditions and verifying obligations prior to invoice payments, as well as validating goods and services receipts prior to invoice payments; and utilizing a Business Enterprise System (e.g. General Fund Business enterprise System or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems).
