This position reports directly to the Patient Safety Officer within the Patient Safety Office of the Kansas City VA Medical Center's (KCVAMC) Office of High Reliability. The incumbent maintains all administrative aspects of the Patient Safety Office by providing support related to Clinical Team Training, National Center for Patient Safety Patient Incident Reporting (including data extraction and analysis), and Root Cause Analyses and Healthcare Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (HFMEA) projects.
Duties
Major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Providing administrative support for the Patient Safety Program to include scanning, typing, tracking, and trending data, faxing, and copying.
Providing additional support to the Patient Safety team as requested by the Patient Safety Officer.
Assisting with researching equipment needs and completion of appropriate forms.
Seeking resolution of office equipment malfunctions, obtaining IT or copier/fax technicians, as appropriate.
Implements nationally standardized protocols for incoming data, organizes, and maintains patient data and retrieves a variety of computerized data.
Reporting any issues associated with data management to supervisor(s) to ensure accuracy of information and integrity of data associated with quality improvement initiatives.
Supporting activities provided by Teams Training (TT) which includes coordinating and assisting with course training.
Assisting with planning to improve overall operations, correct identified deficiencies, and enhancing the TT programs at Kansas City VA.
Assisting with the analysis and /or evaluation of workflow to determine potential problem areas and making recommendations for correction to improve coordination of the Patient Safety Program.
Identifying and recommending ways of eliminating, combining, simplifying, or improving administrative procedures and processes.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am to 430pm

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: (1) Utilizing a personal computer and a variety of software packages (2) Utilizing databases or other tracking systems to maintain suspense deadlines, (3) Communicating effectively with a wide variety of individuals at all levels within an organization and (4) prioritizing work to meet critical deadlines.

Physical Requirements: Some slight physical effort may be required to lift and carry files, transport audio and visual equipment, plus carry educational materials to certain activities.
