About the Position: Receives work assignments from Chief Instructor or section chiefs. Detailed instructions and any necessary schematics, wiring diagrams, or other such references are provided. Works independently on routine and repetitive work assignments. Decisions and judgments are controlled through established procedures and detailed instructions. Routine work assignments are typically carried out with little or no review in progress.
Duties
Repairs Power Generation Equipment ranging from 3KW to 500KW.
Performs operational and maintenance checks and services on all assigned power generation equipment.
Cleans and lubricates power generation equipment per technical manuals.
Diagnoses malfunctions; identifies components which caused the power generation equipment to malfunction and performs necessary work to correct those deficiencies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a power generation equipment license.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision - I have the ability to perform common under supervision; 1) use tools such as wire cutters, wire strippers, saws, drills screwdrivers, pliers etc; 2) perform continuing assignments independently; 3) checking components and operation to ensure efficient performance. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
Frequently handles objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance. Is required to push, bull, stretch, walk, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, climb, and work in cramped and awkward positions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works inside and outside. Work is generally greasy, dirty, and noisy. Is exposed to the possibility of injuries such cuts, bruises, burns, and electrical shock. Is required to wear safety shoes and other safety equipment furnished by the Division.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
