The Director, Administration and Management (DA&M) is the Principal Staff Assistant to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary ofDefense for organizational and management matters within the Office of the Secretary of Defense. The DA&M manages thePentagon Reservation, including all construction, renovation, facility operations, maintenance, and security; provides administrative, personnel, and budget support to OSD, selected Defense Agencies, and DoD personnel in the National Capital Region.
Duties

Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:
Serves as a functional subject matter expert responsible for the creation, management and tracking of the Department of Defense's strategic and performance management plans, performance improvement initiatives, enterprise risk management portfolio or governance, policy and strategic communications
Manages special tasks, projects, and/or studies
Researches source documents to determine scope of work, development of Terms of Reference for reviews / studies, and appropriate timelines for completion, in-process reviews
Develops staff packages / briefings with final options and recommendations for senior leader decision
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities
Requirements

- Total salary varies depending on location of position
- This position is subject to provisions of the WHS/OSD PPP Pilot Program
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment
- Required to participate in the direct deposit program
- This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
- This position may require work to be performed outside normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.
- This position may require occasional travel away from your normal duty station for official business via military or commercial aircraft.

You may qualify at the GS-15 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to GS-14.
1) Creating, managing, and/or tracking strategic performance improvement initiatives and management plans;
(2) Developing strategic communications to support of performance improvement policies;
(3) Leading projects and/or studies and researches source documents to determine scope of work, milestones and completion timeframes.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
