You will serve as a Transportation Assistant (QA Inspector / Counselor) in the Navy Household Goods / Personal Property Shipping Office (HHG/PPSO) Store Front Section of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF.

Duties

You will act as a single point of contact for providing counseling and entitlements in arranging and coordinating pickup, personally procured move, shipment and/or storage of household goods, privately owned vehicles, and household goods inspections. You will review orders and determine the extent of entitlements and eligibility for the shipment, drayage or temporary/non-temporary storage of household goods at government expense. You will explain shipment and storage options, excess costs, special procedures for shipments under various types of orders, member/employee as well as Transportation Service Provider (TSP) responsibilities, and claims procedures. You will ensure that the work of TSPs/contractors engaged in the physical handling (packing and crating) and movement of household goods comply with applicable service tenders, solicitations, contract specifications and other government regulations. You will respond to all requests for information/assistance to include answering questions, providing claims information, providing assistance to determine pre-approved accessorial services, initiating shipment change requests, etc. You will process applications for Household Goods and Personally Procured Moves utilizing the automated Defense Processing System (DPS).

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-7: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing work requiring the application of an extensive body transportation regulations, methods and practices to perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard transportation support assignments and resolving a wide range of problems/issues related to the movement and storage of personal property. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Experience performing a wide range of personal property shipment management functions including household goods entitlements, personal property counseling, inbound and outbound shipment management, temporary storage and non-temporary storage; 2) Experience determining and advising on entitlements or procedures related to the type of quantity of personal property that can be moved at government expense, storage entitlements, mover's liabilities and prohibited items; and 3) Serve as point of contact resolving problems and ensuring that the work of Transportation Providers. To qualify at the GS-6: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector must demonstrate the following: performing work requiring the application of transportation regulations, methods and practices to perform a variety of interrelated or nonstandard transportation support assignments and assist in resolving a range of problems/issues related to the movement and storage of personal property. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Experience performing a range of personal property shipment management functions including household goods entitlements, personal property counseling, inbound and outbound shipment management, temporary storage and non-temporary storage; and 2) Experience in assisting in determining on entitlements or procedures related to the type of quantity of personal property that can be moved at government expense, storage entitlements, mover's liabilities and prohibited items.
