You will serve as a Mail Clerk in the Mail Facility of NAVSUP FLC PEARL HARBOR. ***This Job Opportunity Announcement is using an additional online assessment tool to evaluate applicants. Duties

You will perform various duties involving the control, processing, and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail. You will screen outgoing mail for proper addressing and ensures compliance with procedural requirements and postal regulations. You will separate mail for internal or external distribution and by class of mail You will process and consolidate mail to ensure it is transported at the lowest cost possible while at the same time meeting delivery and handling standards. You will operate automated information technology and mail processing equipment and copiers in support of mail processing functions.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision
  • This position may be coded as ?key? and as such you may be required be removed from your military recall status. A signed statement of understanding is required.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that has equipped me with the basic knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform basic mail and file processing and control procedures. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Process and handle mail by applying general policies and regulations; 2) Deliver correspondence and mail; 3) Process mail by operating automated machinery; and 4) Maintain records and files. You may qualify using education to substitute for Specialized Experience, if you possess the following:

4 years of education above the high school level

OR

A combination of education and general experience.
