The United States Mint's Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-09. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Monitors, investigates, and evaluates work performed by contracted customer call center staff
Responds to and tracks order inquiries and complaints received by telephone, chat, correspondence, and face-to-face interaction, business systems, or other customer communications
Independently provides quality control regarding customer interactions to ensure problems or issues are resolved thoroughly and consistently and actions required to remedy such issues are noted and incorporated into procedural processes as necessary
Assists the supervisor with management of daily activities over groups of off-site client contractor services
Reviews and audits pending customer orders, to ensure error-free transactions
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the GS-09 level, you must meet the following requirements:
A. Education: In the Recent Graduates Program you may qualify based solely on education as follows:A master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
B. Experience: For the GS-09 you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. For this position, specialized experience for this position includes:
- Assisting in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data; AND
- Making recommendations regarding problem resolution; AND
- Assisting in documenting and maintaining various systems; AND
-Skills in utilizing a personal computer related to hardware and software, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and email.

C. You may qualify by a combination of experience and education: Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To receive any credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate the number of hours worked per week, on your resume.
To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must meet the following requirements:
A. Education: In the Recent Graduates Program you may qualify based solely on education as follows:1 full year of graduate level education (18 semester hours, 27 quarter hours or equivalent) in an accredited college or university OR
You may have a bachelor's degree and meet one of the following requirements for superior academic achievement: A GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses or those completed in the last 2 years of study, or a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all courses in the major field of study or those courses in the major completed in the last 2 years of study, or rank in the upper one third of the class in the college, university, or major subdivision, or membership in a national honor society recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies.
OR
B. Experience: For the GS-07 you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. For this position, specialized experience for this position includes:
- Assisting in reviewing customers account information; AND
- Analyzing information for solutions through internal and external processes and systems; AND
- Making recommendations regarding problem resolution and informing the supervisor; AND
- Documenting information using various systems.

To be eligible for the Recent Graduates Program, applicants must have, within the previous 2 years*, completed all educational requirements for a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying institution; [or intended graduation is no more than 9 months from date of application.
