You will serve as a Packer of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO.

Duties

You will perform a wide variety of standardized and specialized packing and preservation of hazardous and non-hazardous items You will perform custom packing using bracketing, suspending, mounting, and slot hanging You will apply oils, powders, desiccants, drying agents, and other preservation material You will operate hand and power tools common to the Packer trade You operate forklifts, trucks, and other material handling equipment

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid stated issued Driver?s License
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current license for all assigned equipment, including forklifts and heavy equipment.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
  • You must be able to distinguish colors and shades of colors.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret level security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • You "may" be coded as "key" and as such may be required to be removed from your military recall status. A signed statement of understanding is required.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to do the work of a WG-7002-06 Packer demonstrated through experience, working under normal supervision, using prescribed containers, protective devices, and cushioning; using prescribed methods and techniques for standard and non-standard packaging and preservation; comply with prescribed packing guidance; reading standard documentation; understanding special handling labels; packing materials for shipment in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations; operating powered material handling equipment; using tools and equipment common to packing; handling hazardous material (HAZMAT) Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
