About the Position: Serves as the Deputy and principal assistant to the Chief of Staff, responsible for the management and execution of business activities, critical support services, and long-range strategic planning.
The pay band for this position, NH-4, is equivalent to GS-14 through GS-15
Duties
Serves as the Deputy and principal assistant to the Chief of Staff, responsible for the management and execution of business activities, critical support services, and long-range strategic planning.
Directs the planning and execution of financial processes, human resources management, information management, business planning, and oversees other critical support services such as risk management and special staff functions within the command.
Interface with higher headquarters, conduct extensive coordination of staff actions, develop command policies and guidance, and provide expert staff advice to the Chief of Staff.
Reviews work efforts within the staff sections to ensure timeliness and quality of products/outputs.
Within delegated authority and guidance and/or absence, acts for the Chief of Staff in all areas of management, command and control, operations and activities of a two-star Headquarters.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential.
- A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing work products within staff sections to ensure timeliness and quality; managing business activities, critical support services, and long-range strategic planning; directing the planning and execution of financial processes, human resources management, information management, business planning, personnel resource assignments and skill development; overseeing critical support services and staff functions within a command; and exercise an extraordinarily high level of managerial competence and functional expertise. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level (NH-03 or GS-13).
