About the Position: Serves as the Deputy and principal assistant to the Chief of Staff, responsible for the management and execution of business activities, critical support services, and long-range strategic planning. The pay band for this position, NH-4, is equivalent to GS-14 through GS-15

Duties

Serves as the Deputy and principal assistant to the Chief of Staff, responsible for the management and execution of business activities, critical support services, and long-range strategic planning. Directs the planning and execution of financial processes, human resources management, information management, business planning, and oversees other critical support services such as risk management and special staff functions within the command. Interface with higher headquarters, conduct extensive coordination of staff actions, develop command policies and guidance, and provide expert staff advice to the Chief of Staff. Reviews work efforts within the staff sections to ensure timeliness and quality of products/outputs. Within delegated authority and guidance and/or absence, acts for the Chief of Staff in all areas of management, command and control, operations and activities of a two-star Headquarters.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level (NH-03 or GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
