Provider will serve as staff Podiatrist (non-surgical) at the William C. Tallent VA Outpatient Clinic, under the supervision of the Chief of Podiatry, who reports to the Chief of Surgery at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He/she will maintain licensure and credentials sufficient to practice Podiatric Medicine inclusive of all diagnostic and medical therapeutic modalities for the treatment of diseases and injuries of the foot/ankle up to but not including operative intervention.

Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to: Provide comprehensive Podiatric care services as well as follow-up care of existing conditions and management of emergent conditions within the scope of approved clinical privileges in an outpatient setting. Collaborate with other members of the Podiatry team within the service such as nurses and administrative staff. Provide comprehensive care to include diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and education of patients with Podiatry conditions in an outpatient clinical setting. Complete documentation and coding of visits accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. Evaluate, triage, and prioritize Podiatry consult requests to ensure timely care for patients. Perform outpatient Podiatry diagnostic services, management of foot diseases, deformities and/or trauma and those structures which affect the foot and ankle. Perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews (monthly chart reviews), and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE). Coordinate Podiatry services and care at VA or non-VA referral centers for patients requiring services not provided at the outpatient facility. Attend staff meetings and service on committees, process improvement teams and work groups as requested. Complete CME as required to maintain competency in Podiatric medicine and medical licensure. Complete HIPAA, Privacy and Security and other mandatory VA training in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Podiatrist Basic Requirements Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Approved schools are United States schools of podiatric medicine approved by the Council on Podiatry Education of the American Podiatry Association in the year in which the degree was granted. ~AND~ Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA Podiatrists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or (2) Other residencies and training experiences, or their equivalents, which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Preferred Experience: Three to Five years of podiatry experience is preferred, but not required. References: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-4 Podiatrist Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.
