This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Duties

Major Duties Incumbent continually provides oversight and makes recommendations to improve the utilization of resources. Incumbent is responsible for developing and recommending additional management reports to assist in providing timely and accurate information for all current and future customers. Incumbent is a major participant in the development and implementation of both short and long-term policies and plans for CMOP. Incumbent monitors all prescription throughput of allocated workload to insure timeliness, accuracy, and successful processing. Incumbent is responsible for coordinating these efforts with other production areas, logistics, and information technology (IT) staff. Incumbent assists in facilitating employee mandatory training including, but not limited to equipment safety, equipment orientation, The Joint Commission, mandatory annual training, and all competency related areas. Incumbent assists in the coordination and planning of staffing and resources required to update each production area to keep at maximum efficiency. This would include but not be limited to checking individual production percentages in each major filling area, monitoring new and different drug activity, and moving drugs from one production area to another as appropriate. Incumbent coordinates the timing of upgrades and repairs based on production needs. He/she monitors system to ensure pick speeds and safety gaps are optimized on various automated devices. Incumbent manipulates available workload to maximize usage of all available zones, cells, pucks, or totes. Incumbent monitors priorities to ensure correct quantities are dispensed by the right component. Incumbent ensures that there is adequate work assigned to the active queue to keep manual subsystem at maximum efficiency. In order to assure continuity of operations/automation services, the incumbent shall be cross trained in all production areas and capable of performing area requirements as needed. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: One year experience at the next lower level and must fully meet the KSA's as the next lower level. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following technical KSA's and the potential to acquire the assignment specific KSA's designated by an asterisk. Preferred Experience: Primary functions for the certified pharmacy tech include, but not limited to, monitors prescription throughput of the workload timely and accurately. Will also coordinate workload processing through other automated production areas, logistics and IT (information technology). Other requirements will include the coordination and planning of staff for all production areas and reporting to the shift supervisor each day, monitoring daily workload, drug shortages and backorders and any issues, and working to resolve problems on the production floor. References: VA handbook 5005/15 Part II, Appendix G28 Physical Requirements: Work may be performed in a highly mechanized warehouse setting around production machinery. Moderate noise and traffic require attention to safety. Some work areas involve a moderate risk requiring exercise of safety precautions when operating or working around the automated equipment (i.e., accumulators, moving belts, etc.). Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory when handling identified medications as stated in CMOP Standard Operating Procedures. The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion, involving standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time, lifting/carrying of pharmaceutical supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. and bending/stooping/reaching.
