This position serves as an Engineering Technician for the Facilities Management Service within the William S Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital located in Madison, WI.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Updates master floor plans by utilizing AutoCAD or outlining needed changes to supervisor. Drafts monthly progress reports and process pay estimates, ensuring payments are based on actual work completed. Evaluates change order/supplemental agreement proposals and drafts recommendations for forwarding to Contracting Officer. Closely monitors project with established time frame, anticipates and completions delays, and notifies Contracting Officer with recommendation for any needed action. Work Schedule: Fulltime; Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

To apply for this position, you must have the following qualifications: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year of Specialized Experience at the next lower grade level (GS 8) in the federal service. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. (Resume(s) must clearly support the duties and experience required for this position. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: ArchitectureComputer SkillsProject Management IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, with some climbing, walking, bending, crawling or stooping during performance of various work activities. Must be able to work for extended periods of time in asbestos contaminated hazardous areas in full face respirator and other personal protective equipment and clothing.
