You will serve as a CRANE OPERATOR in the CRANE & RIGGING BRANCH (N42W123) of NMC CWD DET SEAL BEACH.
Duties
You will operate cranes to move ammunition, missiles, heavy equipment, machinery beams, lumber, crated or packed material, and similar items.
You will operate crane equipped with clamshell buckets or other excavating attachments to load and unload bulk materials, such as sand or rocks, and perform excavating operations as directed.
You will maintain crane equipment, performing such tasks as replacing spark plugs and fan belts, and cleaning and lubricating parts of cranes.
You will provide and implement plans to ensure material handling equipment (MHE) and ordnance handling equipment (OHE) are certified, inspected, and tested in accordance with appropriate regulations.
You will receive, examine, segregate, process, store, and issue fleet returned ordnance materials of all types.
Requirements

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Operator Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) and Ordnance Handling Equipment (OHE), shall be certified and licensed within 30 days of hire.
- Explosive Operator Material Handling Equipment (MHE), shall be trained and certified within 90 days of hire.
- Ordnance Material Handlers: certified with 30 days of hire, in accordance with OPNAVINST 8023.3 (series), NAVREGSWINST 8020.2, NAVSEA OP-5 Vol. 1 para 2-3.4.
- Crane Operators shall be qualified and licensed in accordance with NVFAC P 307 within one year of appointment (CAT-1 and Class A license).
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Per E.O. 14043, selectee(s) must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by date of employment except in limited circumstances where an exemption is approved due to a disability or sincerely held religious beliefs.
Qualifications
