This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Hawaii is a beautiful state, but has a high cost of living. Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year round including surfing, paddling, diving, fishing, and hiking.

Duties

Utilize a gasoline-powered, self-propelled heavy duty riding lawnmower to cut grass. Perform lawn maintenance using trimmers, edgers and other tools as needed. Pull weeds, rake, sweep, clear brush. Pick up trash and perform maintenance on all types of equipment. Perform operational maintenance on the equipment.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Incumbent is subject to be called back to work during non-duty hours to respond to emergencies after regular working hours.
• Incumbent must be able to obtain and keep current a valid state drivers license and any installation and/or DOD requirement for the type of vehicle being operated.
• Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat and safety shoes is required.
• Incumbent must pass a pre-employment physical and any subsequent annual physical.
• This position requires 10% temporary duty travel (TDY).

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) LABORER (MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATING) ~ without more than normal supervision: use a self-propelled or manual lawnmower, string trimmer or edger; AND performing manual labor tasks such as cleaning, raking and watering lawns. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Conditions: The work requires frequent walking, standing, pushing, or mowers, bending and stooping. employee may be required to lift and carry items or materials weighing up to 4 pounds. Frequent arm and leg movement is required to manipulate tractor controls. Working Conditions: Work is normally performed outdoors where the employee is subject to heat and inclement weather. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and physical strain when operating power mowers, machetes, etc.
