This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. Duties

The primary purpose of this position is: Serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) providing training to assigned personnel in the accomplishment of task herein. to remove install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a major functions. Duty:1:Removes, installs, modifies, overhaul, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, aligns, calibrates, and rebuilds multi-systems avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions. Duty 2: Performs pretest, operational functional or final testing of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies. Duty 3. Advises engineering personnel on the operation and maintenance effects of proposed time Compliance Technical Orders and or modifications on new or existing equipment Duty 4: Utilizes safety practices and tool control procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work area. Duty 5:Prepares/executes effective training plans to maximize training.

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C-WG-2600-Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Group.. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is to do the job of a Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.Knowledge of electronic theories and practices of one more complex integrated systems such as fire control, navigation, automatic landing control system; 2. Skill in the use of standard hand and power tools of the electronics trade. 3.Skill in the set up and operation of computer controlled automated test equipment (ATE) and test stand, oscilloscopes dual trace, storage, digitized, spectrum, network and distortion analyzers, frequency counters, and signal generators; 4.Comprehensive knowledge of testing and troubleshooting techniques and procedures utilizing a variety of test devices and ability to analyze, modify, and repair complex electrical or environmental systems and components on assigned aircraft. 5. Skill in calibrating and adjusting components such as amplifiers, proximity boxes, generators, and voltage regulators. 6. Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data such as schematic diagrams, blueprints and technical orders relating to the electronics trade. 7. Comprehensive knowledge of operation, capabilities and limitations of complex electronic systems complicated by a variety of multi component assemblies and devices. Other Significant Facts: Other significant facts pertaining to this position are: Performs shift work with uncommon tour of duty. May be required to fly military or contract aircraft for TDY maintenance or training, in accordance with the JTRs. May be required to support other units in performing maintenance. This an Air reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain secret security clearance as condition of employment. This is a testing designated position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Physical Effort Physical effort involves lifting components and equipment and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Items lifted generally weigh up to 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Requires a high degree of manual dexterity, eye to hand coordination, prolonged standing, walking, and normal color vision. Working Conditions Work is performed inside in a shop environment and outside on the aircraft, subject to inclement weather. Mechanics are subject to injuries such as cuts and bruises and may be subject to danger from exposure to hazardous materials, high pressure air, high noise level, electrical shock, RF radiation, and burns from PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
