The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an assistant or the base Information Assurance Specialist and to administer the Communication-Computer Security (COMPUSEC) program, Air Force Electronic Key Management System (AFEKMS), Emission Security, and Information Assurance Awareness Programs.
Duties
Administers the COMPUSEC Program and protects Information Technology (IT) assets against unauthorized, accidental, or deliberate modification, disclosure, and destruction of data.
Administers the Network Security Program.
Administers the Communications Security (COMSEC) program.
Administers-the Air-Force Electronic Key Management System-(AFEKMS) program.

- This position is temporary and has a Not-to-Exceed date. However, this position may be extended to the fullest legally allowable period without further competition. The appointment may also end early due to lack of work or funds
- Incumbent must be eligible for a TS or TS/SCI security clearance (Special Compartmented Information), as required by duty location.
- Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement.
- Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3 .2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3.
- Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series, 2210 (Alternative A). SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year, or will have one year within 120 days of closing of this announcement, at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay system. Experience must be IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND with Information Assurance Awareness (IA), Communication-Computer Security (COMPUSEC), Air Force Electronic Key Management System (AFEKMS) and Emission Security. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
OREDUCATION: Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. You must provide your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-?grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
I. Knowledge of IT INFOSEC security principles, concepts, practices, systems software, database software, and immediate access storage technology to carry out activities leading to security certification or accreditation.
2. Knowledge of IT security principles, policies, products and services to assess risk factors and advise on vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources ( e.g. destructive programs/applications/viruses, unauthorized access, disruption of services, espionage) and procedures and methods for protection of systems and applications.
3. Knowledge of Local Area Network security requirements and techniques for protecting computer systems from viruses, data tampering, and unauthorized system entry.
4. Knowledge of commonly applied telecommunications principles, concepts, and methodologies, operating characteristics and capabilities of systems, media, equipment, and related software systems, processes and procedures to assess the efficiency of operations and make recommendations involving equipment and system integrity.
5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
6. Ability to develop and conduct training on information security.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
