As a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist, you will be responsible administering occupational safety and health (OSH) programs for all federally owned and leased buildings throughout the region.Location of position: Public Buildings Service, Facilities Management & Mountain Plains Service Center Division, Lakewood, CO.
We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.
Duties
Prepares goals, objectives, procedures, guidelines for various Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs. Develops safety training curricula, and reviews projects and plans to ensure the inclusion of necessary safety comments and/or features. Manages regional OSH risk management program and inspections.
Responsible for monitoring regional occupational injuries and illnesses data. Prepares changes to regional Safety and Occupant Health policies and assists regional office, field offices, and individual facilities in their implementation.
Ensures all the recommendations on approved construction and building alteration plans, drawings, and specifications in the area of safety and occupational health are incorporated into projects to obtain compliance with standards to minimize risk to human life and damage to property.
Develops and coordinates the regional safety education program conducted by staff or contractors, to meet the needs of employees who are required to be familiar with safety and health regulations. Trains Safety Representatives in field offices on all Safety and Occupational Health (OSH) programs.

The GS-12 salary range starts at $91,753 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected. To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience coordinating and implementing environmental and safety programs in a government, industrial or commercial environment in the following areas: occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials, or a related field.
