The VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS), Mental Health Service Line (MHSL) is currently recruiting for one (1) BHIP Program Manager (Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor), at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center, in Aurora, Colorado.

Duties

The BHIP Program Manager provides oversight of a Behavioral Health Integrated Program (BHIP) in Southern Colorado to ensure effective and efficient delivery of mental health services for Veteran patients and their families in accordance with the mission of VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System. The BHIP Program Manager reports to the Primary Mental Health Section Chief in the operation of Mental Health programs, with specific focus on BHIP Team(s). Major duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Develops and maintains high-quality Mental Health team functioning and processes while meeting all Environment of Care and programmatic requirements. Oversees quality control issues and performance measures with the Section Chief. Oversees compliance with and successful execution of Mental Health Performance Measures, SAIL, workload, VERA capture, Veteran satisfaction, and quality assurance. As requested, provides consultation for all mental health clinicians regarding the clinical care or complex cases. Performs the administrative and personnel management function of staff supervised Exercises supervisor authorities and responsibilities involving work assignment and review, as well as the administrative and personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised. Uses sound judgment in the interpretation of trends and patterns, the application or guidelines, and the recommendations of program enhancements. Performs work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of various programs. Is responsible for key project activities related to the planning, development and implementation of the project component. Facilitates weekly staff conferences regarding administrative and staff development issues. Responsible for providing clinical supervision and instruction to LPHMC interns. Provides clinical supervision and/or training for medical residents, medical students, LPMHC interns, nurses, or other trainees not enrolled in a mental health counseling training program. Participates in improvement of clinical supervision skills with emphasis on Evidence-Based Practice models. Provides education and guidance to other mental health staff Independently provides biopsychosocial assessment, evaluation and diagnostic services for Veterans with a broad range of psychopathology receiving care within the clinic setting. Demonstrates expertise in using and teaching others about cotemporary interview and psychometric assessment methods for these disorders. Provides education to both Veterans and family members regarding relevant mental health concerns. Provides comprehensive, evidence-based, psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy and psychoeducation. Provides consultation to health care providers about assessment findings and treatment plan for patients to ensure that care is effectively coordinated, collaborative, and integrated within the health care system. Develops, implements, and documents the mental health treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients. Complies with all VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System and Mental Health documentation requirements, including timely completion of prescribed templates for documenting results of assessment, treatment, and risk evaluation contacts. Adheres to all VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System and Mental Health policies and practices for delivering clinical care, including but not limited to suicide risk reduction procedures, timeliness of care and access standards, professional conduct requirements, and CPRS documentation conventions. Achieves clinical workload expectations as established by the VA Eastern VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: LPMHCs must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3.j. Education: Hold a Master's or Doctoral degree in: Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; or a related field, from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Examples of related mental health counseling fields include, but are not limited to Addiction Counseling; Community Counseling; Gerontology Counseling; Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling. CACREP defines the date when graduates are considered to have graduated from a CACREP accredited program. Additional information may be obtained from http://www.cacrep.org/directory/. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to LPMHC positions in the GS-0183 series in VHA must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor, which includes diagnosis and treatment. Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must have at least one (1) year of progressively complex experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. The experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency and demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities below: Ability to make judgments and decisions associated with program management Ability to monitor program outcomes using data driven quality assurance processes Ability to develop productivity standards appropriate to each service provided Ability to manage a wide range of programs which include the operation and management of key clinical, training or administrative programs References: VA Handbook 5005/106, Part II, Appendix G43 Physical Requirements: The work involved with physical activities typically associated with office based psychological practice. No extreme physical demands are needed. The work does require patience and emotional control due to the intrinsic nature of psychological practice.
