The Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) is seeking a highly qualified applicant to serve as a Special Agent and Security Specialist within the Protective Services Division. In this role, you will be responsible for providing criminal and administrative investigations, physical security assessments, and design and oversight of physical security solutions. You will have direct authority as the Contractor Officer Representative (COR) for the GSFC Uniform Police Division at all GSFC locations.

Duties

Duties described below are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee. Performs work concerned with physical security measures designed to safeguard employees, facilities, information, and critical assets at federal facilities, leased spaces, or a campus environment. Performs criminal and administrative investigations that includes interviewing subjects, witnesses, and victims in concert with NASA Office of Inspector General and other investigative authorities. Performs risk analyses for operations, facilities, and assets to assure they are adequately protected by security systems (access control, alarms, closed circuit television) and are appropriately implemented and maintained. Performs case and record reviews; confidential informant recruitment, development, and handling of surveillance operations; crime scene examination; evidence collection; and testimony in administrative and/or judicial proceedings. Provides written investigative reports to the Chief of Protective Services, Office of Inspector General, and others as required to determine investigative conclusion and report of findings.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Providing physical security assessments of contractor or government facilities to include oversight or contract management of Uniform Police Division; Conducting complex criminal or administrative investigations; Designing and overseeing implementation of physical security solutions to protect personnel, facilities, and/or equipment.
