You will serve as a Production Machinery Mechanic in the Production Resource Department, Machine Shop of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will read blueprints, interpret specifications, and make templates familiar with the many types of machines, appliances and equipment required to overhaul. You will setup and operate lathes, milling machines, and shapers to accomplish emergency work. You will install, maintain, repair and rehabilitate machine tools. You will remove and replace broken, worn, misaligned or otherwise faulty parts. You will disassemble machines, appliances and equipment. You will recommend replacement, building, refitting or the redesigning of the examined parts.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
