The incumbent works as an Electronics Mechanic in the Engineering Service at the Charlie Norwood VAMC in Augusta, GA. The Electronics Mechanic maintains various types of electronics and electrical equipment used throughout the Medical Center.

Duties

Current permanent VA employees should apply under VIN 12078493 Your duties can include but are not limited to the following: Correct malfunctions in various electrical, electronic, and electromechanical systems. Maintain stock of critical parts, keeps test equipment functional and maintains all necessary manuals. Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule to assure minimum down time of hospital equipment. Document routine and unscheduled maintenance and keeps records of material and hours used by turning in completed work orders daily. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Standing, stooping, bending, stretching and lifting are required in performing normal duties. Occasionally, objects as heavy as 40 pounds must be lifted and moved. The work is usually performed in well lighted, ventilated space. Outside work is performed in good weather except for emergency situations. there is some hazard of electric shock and burn while testing or repairing electrical or electronic circuits. The incumbent is subject to possibility of asbestos exposure and chemicals, which can cause burns or skin irritations. The incumbent will be assigned to either the Uptown or Downtown Division, however, on occasion, may perform these duties at either division when assigned as needed.
