Position: Incumbent will serve as a Lead Security Guard for The US Army Installation Management Command USAG, Directorate of Emergency Services Police/Provost Marshall Division.
Position is restricted to persons entitled to Veterans' Preference; if there are no Veterans' Preference eligible applicants available, non-preference applicants may be considered
Duties
Checks on work in progress to ensure supervisor's instructions on work sequence procedures are met.
Makes note of work not meeting established requirements and refers problem matters to the supervisor.
Answers questions of employees on procedures and regulatory directives and obtains decisions and information on problems.
Serves as the initial point of contact for the installation's visitors which may include foreign nationals, government agents, elective officials, media and Very Important Persons (VIP).
Requirements
- Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation?s overall security response capability.
- Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
- Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton
- Employee and prospective employee of this job are expected to maintain a high standard of conduct; and when being considered for employment and periodically thereafter, they must be assessed under the Individual Reliability Program
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Secret security clearance required.
- This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program.
- Shift work is required.
- Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
- Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
- Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
- Incumbent must successfully complete CPR certification and First Aid training.
- Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
- Incumbent will be required to pass entry level and annual re-certification of standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid state driver?s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.

- Incumbent must wear prescribed uniform
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of Domestic Violence are not eligible for this position
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes protecting property against such hazards as: fire, theft, damage, accidents and trespassing. Maintaining order and protecting life. Coordinating communications with patrol units in routine and emergency situations.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
