This position is located at the MIDDLE SCHOOL/TEEN CENTER. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies throughout the program. Management has the right to assign staff to locations as mission requires.

Duties
Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant in a Child and Youth Services program and maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth.
Reviews, provides input to, and implements schedules and activity plans. Demonstrates, instructs, leads, and facilitates planned and spontaneous program activities. Sets up displays and bulletin boards.
Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs for program participants based on the group and individual children and youth.
Helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules and provides program options for children with special requirements.
Supervises children and youth during daily schedule of indoor and outdoor activities and on field trips, outings, and special events. Promotes and models safety, fitness, health, and nutrition practices.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older at time of appointment or placement into the position.
- Proof of education is required at the time of application.
- Good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease (physical required) Immunizations must be current including annual influenza vaccinations.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
- Schedule may include irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends. Duties involve working both indoors and outdoors.
- Successful completion of prescribed training (transition and/or annual) is required. Failure to achieve desired training with demonstrated competence may result in separation.
- The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license. Incumbent is legally required to report all suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect.
- Position is a Drug-Free Workplace (DFW)/Testing Designated Position (TDP). A negative drug urine test is required prior to appointment (to include periodic, random testing).
- Individuals who have been trained will be required to administer routine and rescue medications prescribed by a physician to children/youth, perform CPR and first aid, and provide a reasonable accommodation to children/youth with a special need.
- Travel to on and off post locations may be required. Schedule may include irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends. Duties involve working both indoors and outdoors.
- This position has been identified as a Drug-Free Workplace (DFW)/Testing Designated Position (TDP) in accordance with Army Regulation 600-85. Tentatively-selected applicants must complete DA Form 5019.
- A negative drug urine test is required prior to appointment. Incumbent will be subject to testing requirements to include periodic, random testing.
- A one year probationary period may be required
Qualifications
All applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate and be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
In addition, candidate must:
Possess 18 months of experience working in a group program with children or youth, plus Army or other military service Foundation Level Training as evidenced by service-issued Certificate of Completion.
OR
Possess 18 months of experience working in a group program with children or youth, plus an associate's degree or least 60 semester hours of college credit which included a major course of study (24 semester hours) with content directly related to the age group to which assigned, for example: Child Development Centers: Early Childhood Education/Child Development, Elementary Education, Special Education. School Age: Elementary Education, Child Development, Youth Development, Special Education. Youth Services: Youth Development, Secondary Education, Human Development, Youth Program Administration, Recreation, Physical Education, or directly-related behavioral or cultural science (developmental psychology, child psychology/sociology, sociology of the family, gender identity, parenting.)? Note: General psychology/sociology coursework is not qualifying.
OR
Possess one of the following:
1. A bachelor's degree or at least 120 semester hours which included a major course of study (24 semester hours) with content as indicated above.
2. Possess and maintain one of the following directly related to the age group of the position to which assigned: Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Military School Age Credential, Army Youth Practicum, or other nationally recognized Youth Development Credential.
