This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. Duties

The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as an Air reserve Technician (ART) Squadron Superintendent for either Aircraft Generation (AGS), Component Repair (CRS), Equipment Maintenance (EMS) or Maintenance (MXS). In this capacity, exercises technical and administrative supervision over subordinate supervisors and workers in accomplishing the total aircraft inspections, troubleshooting, repair modification, jacking and total engine run of aircraft to an in-commission status (to include preflight) in an integrated environment as well as to train reservists in the duties and responsibilities set forth herein. Position functions as the primary supervisor at an Associate Air Force Reserve unit. DUTY 1: : Performs work planning responsibilities. DUTY 2: Performs work direction responsibilities. DUTY 3: Performs administrative responsibilities. DUTY 4: Applies Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)/Equal Opportunity Treatment (EOT) principles and requirements to all personnel management actions and decisions, and ensures all personnel are treated in a manner free of discrimination. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WS-8800 Aircraft Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised. 2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. 4. Knowledge in using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment. 5. Knowledge in troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems. 6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. 7. Ability to plan and organize work assig mission. 8 Ability to manage overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities and functions and implement sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures through subordinate supervisors. 9. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 10. Comprehensive knowledge of assigned weapon systems including airframes, aircraft systems, and the interrelationships among systems and aircraft power plants, needed to make various operational checks and verify established performance limits. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs). Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 4 hours per week. Hours of standing are 10 hours per week. Hours of repeated bending are l hours per week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing (with aid). ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Outside and inside (other than normal commuting). Excessive noise, intermittent. Electrical energy. Slippery or uneven walking surface. Working around machinery with moving parts. Working closely with others. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: Other significant facts pertaining to this position are: May be required to fly in commercial and/or military aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position. Performs other related duties as assigned. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in UTAs. The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. This position is designated mission essential during emergency situations based on local conditions. The duties performed are vital to the continuity of essential operations during emergency situations. Incumbent must report to work at normal time and remain at duty station during the period leading up to and during the emergency situation and continue to perform mission essential duties until relieved by proper authority. This is a testing designated position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
