About the Position: Serves as Facility Operation Specialist for the Chicago District, Operations Division, supporting major multipurpose water resource projects that may include power generation, navigation locks, flood control, visitor centers, natural resources and recreation features, or other appurtenant elements at several locations.
Duties
Analyze maintenance history for facilities and equipment Establish maintenance schedules for facilities and equipment.
Develop and update maintenance equipment profiles.
Record system maintenance and repair history.
Prepare or assist in preparing annual and/or periodic program reports.
Attend project maintenance meetings and relay pertinent information.
Provide access and permissions for employees utilizing the Facilities and Equipment Maintenance System (FEM).
Troubleshoot FEM system problems and issues.
Organize, compile all pertinent information, assure accuracy, and enter data updates for equipment into automated maintenance systems.
Serves as the FEM subject matter expert (SME) for the project.
Ensures quality of data entered into FEM by field staff and technicians.
Requirements

- Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator's license prior to appointment.

If applying for the developmental grade of GS-07:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes having performed maintenance work in a maintenance program for multipurpose water resource projects that may include power generation, navigation locks, flood control, visitor centers, natural resources and recreation features; using a computerized management system to schedule, provide analysis, coordinate, gather and record data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-05.
OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education with a major study in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
* You may be eligible for consideration under the Superior Academic Achievement provision if you can provide documentation to support having earned superior academic achievement. To receive credit funder this provision you must demonstrate successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree. Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. If applying for target grade of GS-09:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) assisting in utilizing computer maintenance management systems to create short- and long-term preventative maintenance schedules, work orders, and customizable reports and queries; (2) assisting with powerplant maintenance management scheduling techniques and processes; (3) assisting in providing technical support to facility operations specialists, supervisors, engineers, and management in scheduling emergency, non-routine, corrective, or unanticipated work orders in a computer maintenance management systems; (4) assisting in closing work orders, ensuring proper coding of time, equipment, and supplies in a computer maintenance management systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-07.
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
