This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at Letterkenny Army Depot, Command Group Safety and Continuous Improvement Office.

Duties

Lead a team of Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) specialists. Advise on the organization?s strategic plan, mission, vision and values to the SOH team. Train personnel to ensure effective management of SOH Programs. Conduct safety and occupational health inspections and surveys. Prepare written guides, procedures and standards to prevent unsafe conditions and reduce the severity of accidents. Investigate property damages, accidents, injuries, and fatalities.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires a Career Program 12 Level 1 Certification.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includestraining staff with procedures and techniques on safety and occupation health program (SOH); distributing SOH workload among employees in accordance with skill level and priorities of tasks; advising on policies and procedures relating to SOH; and assisting/conducting SOH inspections and surveys that includes preparing SOH reports with recommendations control safety and health hazards. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
