This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administrator (DEA), Aviation Division, North Eastern Aviation Resident Office, Fairfield, NJ. The position's primary purpose is to provide a variety of administrative and clerical duties in support of the assigned office.

Duties

As an Office Assistant (OA) your typical work assignment may include: Preparing various administrative documents for signature and access to time and attendance/payroll records; facility maintenance requests, telephone work orders, publications and forms for acquisition, and internal memos for disseminating guidance. Reviewing documents for proper spelling, grammar, formatting, and arrangement of text material. Working with a variety of software programs, such as Microsoft Office programs and email systems to type a variety of material that is self-initiated, or from oral instructions. Performing a variety of clerical duties to include, prepares and maintains correspondence pertaining to travel, time and attendance, purchase requests, training, budget related actions, fiscal and procurement, asset forfeiture, vehicles, etc. Providing personnel liaison assistance in the areas of coordinating actions between enforcement agencies, communication between agents, employee orientation, and time and attendance.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. You may qualify at the GS-08 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability in: 1) Maintaining financial and statistical logs and files; 2) Tracking and obligating funds in an automated financial management system; 3) Providing personnel liaison assistance; 4) Conducting employee orientation; 5) Coordinating office personnel actions; and, 6) Ensuring compliance with organization's policies and procedures. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
