About the Position: This position is located at the Logistics Readiness Center at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Fort Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Inspect contractor's performance at owner's residence and at warehouse during packaging, packing/unpacking, crating, loading/unloading, and shipping. Document, report and track agent/carrier performance and report any violations. Inspect packing material, methods and storage facilities. Counsel customers on shipping and claims process. Generate daily inspection schedule.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 20% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate valid state driver's license.
  • May be required to work various hours to include holidays, weekends, or on-call duty.
  • Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
  • A qualified typist is required.
  • Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) inspecting personal property and materials; 2) identifying damaged or missing items; 3) utilizing computer software applications to complete forms, documents and reports; and 4) interpreting regulations to ensure compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailComputer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Transportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement.
