You will serve as a Weight Handling Equipment Program Supervisor in the Research and Development Services Division, Support Services Branch, Shop Services Section, Rigging/Crane Program of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.

Duties

You will be responsible for the supervision and performance of the shop which provides mission critical rigging support directly related to the Naval Research Laboratory?s (NRL) research programs. You will act as the NRL Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) Certifying Official, the Weight Handling License Program Manager, and the Crane Trackage Certifying Official As the Weight Handling Program Manager, you will be responsible for the weight handling program, to include operations, rigging, crane inspections, maintenance, certification, training, accident and near miss/other unplanned occurrence reporting. You will supervise subordinates in rigging and related rigging functions using bridge cranes and other weight handling equipment and in the use of special lifting devices of wire cable, manila line and other materials. You will review work orders and plan the use of subordinate workers and resources under your control to accomplish the required work on a day-to-day or project-by project basis. You will exercise administrative and technical supervision over the following: 1 Industrial Equipment Mechanic, WG-10; 1 WHE Inspector, WG-12; 7 Riggers, WG-10; as well as administrative control over 40 plus weight handling operators.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
