You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ELECTRONIC ENGINEER in the FST ENGINEERING DIV of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will plan the work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities and prepare schedules for work completion. You will coach/mentor personnel in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques, provide advice on work methods, practices and procedures, and assists in identifying the parameters of a viable solution You will establish performance objectives and standards, and evaluate work performance. You will advise, counsel or instruct employees on both work and administrative matters. You will identify resources and training to enable personnel to perform their jobs in the most effective manner possible. You will serve as a recognized expert who provides electrical engineering services to the assigned program which support avionics and support equipment. You will provide expert advice, corrective action, and instructions concerning the processing or repair of aircraft avionics and support equipment

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviewing, evaluating and advising on the effectiveness, technical adequacy and suitability of work for assigned avionic systems; 2) Coordinating and directing the program support work of projects providing in-service support to Weapon Systems for electronics systems; 3) Analyzing and evaluating the ramifications, advisability and impact of large engineering projects related to avionics; 4) Directing investigations and analyses of subsystems to improve overall systems and determine requirements for new equipment; 5) Managing diverse requirements of complex avionics engineering projects; and 6) Ability to supervise, manage and lead a group of engineers equitably and efficiently. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
