The primary purpose of this position is to provide training, advice, and oversight to Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) maintenance technicians in a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Maintenance Unit and to serve as a liaison between the RSAF, USAF, and aircraft manufacturer when necessary. Ensures weapons loaders are fully qualified to perform all required maintenance.

- Provides work planning advice and oversight. - Provides work direction advice. - Serves as technical advisor in the resolution of production problems. - Maintains and monitors some of the major programs assigned to the support section. - Ensures education in, compliance with, and practices of security directives, and good safety and health habits in all work areas.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8800 - Aircraft Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the Ability To Do the Work of an Aircraft Overhaul Advisor (Weapons) without More than Normal Supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) associated with the type of aircraft maintenance operation providing oversight to. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge and using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment. Skill in troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds). Moderate carrying (15-44 pounds). Hours of straight pulling are 1 hours per week. Hours of pushing is 1 hour per week. Reaching above shoulders. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 4 hours per week. Hours of standing are 10 hours per week. Hours of crawling are 1 hour per week. Hours of kneeling are 1 hour per week. Hours of repeated bending are 3 hours per week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Ability to perform rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing (without aid). WORK ENVIRONMENT: Outside and inside (other than normal commuting). Excessive noise, intermittent. Constant noise. Electrical energy. Slippery or uneven walking surface. Working around machinery with moving parts. Working around moving objects or vehicles. Working closely with others. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
