Serves as a FLEX Laundry Machine Operator in the Laundry Department of the Hale Koa Hotel. Local candidates will be reviewed first as PCS is not authorized. If determined that area of consideration is to be expanded, all candidates will be considered.

Duties

Operates 4 to 8 commercial type washing machines for a variety of purposes, e.g. to laundry, dye, starch or to treat articles with water repellant and flame retardant. Knows the formulas used for various types and degrees of soiled laundry. Insures washers are loaded according to the capacity of the machine. Processes different types of laundry involving differences in water temperatures, number and timing of cycles and addition of bleaches, souring, bluing, alkali, etc. at various stages. Unloads washers into proper containers for transport to other departments. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to obtain a Tier 1 background investigation.
• Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays and various hours of the day and week when required.

Qualifications

1. Six months experience as a laundry worker. 2. In addition to knowing the basic washing techniques and formulas for soiled laundry, must understand the effect of water temperatures; compounds such as dye, starch, water repellent or flame retardant; water levels; and timing of cycles for various fabrics to know when the washers are not operating properly. 3. Ability to pull wet laundry from the washer, push heavy carts of wet laundry and lift bundles weighing over 50 pounds.
