This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will oversee all work pertaining to computer/software performed by outside contractors when making modifications or expansions to the EMS. You will install computer software patches to include security patches, Information Assurance vulnerabilities and software upgrades on Legacy servers, routers, printers and workstations. You will be responsible for the maintenance, development, and update of all job control language, detailed logic charts, databases, data integrity, password control, system backup and recovery?, and supporting documentation. You will identify all problems and takes appropriate action to report, repair and implement the resolution. You will provide hardware and software training, technical support services, and implementation assistance.

Qualifications

I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Analyzes system data and requirements to ensure data is synchronized and flows through a variety of systems. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Provide training for end users and managers; coordinating with database developers and programmers to ensure systems meet command requirements. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Provide briefs for service level branch leaders and external agencies. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Recommends courses of action regarding information products, data migration and tracking of system requirements; conducts analysis to identify system inefficiencies. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing system requirements and providing recommendations regarding information products, data migration and systems requirements, managing and tracking data through systems AND developing end user system policy and procedures.
