About the Position: As an Office Automation Clerk, you will perform a variety of general clerical and office automation duties in support of the organization.
Duties
Performs typing on both an electronic typewriter and computer keyboard requiring proficiency in typing as well as knowledge of office hardware and software systems.
Maintains databases which pertain to variety of management documents and processes to include performance appraisals, Incentive awards, leave usage, training given and the like.
Receives visitors and telephone calls, refers to proper person or furnishes information requested, such as dates for meetings, status of correspondence, etc.
Receives and distributes incoming mail based upon a knowledge of the organization.
Requirements
- This position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary, selectee can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position is eligible for situational telework only, including emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, 1) experience using office automation, ordering supplies, receiving visitors and answering phone calls; AND 2) generating reports and other types of correspondence.
OR
Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
