About the Position: Incumbent works as Security Assistant (OA) under the direct supervision of the District Chief, Security and Law Enforcement Officer.

Duties
Conducts personnel security operations utilizing the Defense Information Security System (DISS).
Reviews Position Descriptions to evaluate position sensitivity and maintain database to track and ensure the personnel occupying those positions have the proper personnel investigations.
Process personnel for automated building access and parking permits.
Identify physical security deficiencies essential to safeguarding District property and facilities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a SECRET security clearance.
- Incumbent must be able to type at least 40 WPM (words per minute).

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical and assistant task in support of established security programs; personnel security investigation assistant and performing support task related to security administration. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Security Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical and assistant task in support of established security programs; personnel security investigation assistant, initiating, coordinating, and tracking initial and periodic re-verification background checks, and performing support task related to security administration. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Security Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Education
