This position is located in the Home and Community Based Care (H&CBC) service area of the Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) Service Line - Hamilton, Alabama. The incumbent is assigned to the following H&CBC Programs: Home Based Primary Care Program (HBPC), Medical Foster Home (MFH), and Community Nursing Home (CNR). Incumbent provides administrative and secretarial support to the HBPC Manager, H&CBC Coordinators, and team members

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major Duties: Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tacking of data and statistical information in support of the organization's program operation. Prepares, executes, and/or tracks program specific information, such as H&CBC referrals and consults, census report, equipment management, and time and attendance schedules. Incumbent compiles data for statistical reports and cost accounting and requires inputting data and retrieval of data. Develops and maintains H&CBC reports using Excel, PowerPoint, and Software Computer Packages to create and compile weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Performs work related to the acquisition and/or development of program information and resource materials/personnel to support the policy development and/or technical activities of the organization. Performs internet and library research functions, including file or database searches and research various publications to extract, summarize; and compile information required for the activities of the organization. Assists in the acquisition, development, and/or scheduling of program resource materials and personnel, such as hard copy and computer-based brochures and reports, agency staff and/or volunteer personnel, and/or needed program equipment such as telephones, computer, and printers, fax machines, etc. Monitors all aspects of the operating programs and makes recommendations to improve or modify methods for disseminating information to intended audiences. Schedules agency staff and/or volunteers as required for various departmental activities. Incumbent is responsible for the routine clerical, typing, copying and electronic record maintenance for the programs. This can include letters, memoranda, policies, procedures, and other correspondence. He/she will maintain all required files for H&CBC programs and prepares all correspondence for distribution from rough draft or verbal instructions; screens outgoing documents for Conformance with regulations, station policy, format, grammar, and spelling; and reviews all incoming and outgoing correspondence and assures timely delivery to program staff. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position. For GS-6: Possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience to perform the duties of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been gained at least the equivalent of the next lower grade level of (GS-5) in Federal service. Specialized experience is performing work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tacking of data and statistical information in support of program operations; developing and maintaining reports using excel, power point, and software packages to create and compile weekly or annual reports etc. possessing of routine clerical, typing, copying and electronic record maintenance for the programs such as letters, memoranda, policies, procedures, and other correspondence. Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary in nature and requires walking, standing, bending and carrying of light items such as books, papers, records, packs of coper paper, using office equipment, etc. The incumbent could sit for prolonged periods of time at a computer. The incumbent must be able to operate a vehicle in a sitting position for occasional travel to other VA sites.
