About the Position: As a Lead Security Guard (Desk Sergeant), incumbent will serve as a leader of 8-12 GS-06 Security Guards and perform GS-06 Security Guard work.
Duties
Lead and guide guard personnel in the daily activities to include walking patrol, vehicle patrol, static post, traffic control, investigations, incident response and command center operations to include; CCTV, IDS and radio operations.
Ensure all police reports, accountability records and other pertinent security records, documents are completed accurately and in accordance with applicable Standing Operating Procedure (SOP).
Maintain and operate Intrusion Detection System (IDS) /Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS).
Develop and enforce procedures to assure safeguard of personnel, documents, equipment and development items vital to national defense from unauthorized access, disclosure, theft or loss.
Inform employees of procedural changes and pass on information of employee interest.
Maintain and update law enforcement and security entries into the Central Operating Police Suite (COPS) database.
Responsible for completion of the military police desk blotter.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent required to pass an initial and annual physical agility test.
- Incumbent required to pass an initial and semi-annual weapons qualification.
- Incumbent required to possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Incumbent required to meet certification into the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
- Incumbent subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to Gun Control Act of 1968.
- Annual physical examination is required.
- Subject to random urinalysis testing IAW approved Department of the Army guidelines.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Must be able to wear a protective mask.

Conducting patrols to identify potential hazards to property and facilities such as signs of fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; and control the access of personnel and/or vehicles to the installation or facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
